Senior Residential Facility in Bedford, Ohio

COMMUNITY Updates

JANUARY 10, 2023

Dear Friends and Family of Light of Hearts Villa,

Happy new year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season with friends and family. December is always a joyous month here at the Villa with all the Christmas parties, jolly decorations throughout the building – it’s just a different kind of feeling. But we’re entering 2023 feeling incredibly hopeful about this year with moving in many new residents, updating the facility, and fun and enriching plans for both residents and staff.

General Updates + Covid-19

In the month of December 2022, we had 6 residents test positive and three staff members test positive. As of today, on January 10 – we have had four additional positive cases in our Lumen Lane Memory Care. We are continuing to monitor symptoms and test staff and residents. Visitation is still allowed, but please do so at your own risk and continue to be safe when visiting with your loved ones by wearing a mask and frequently washing hands. We know it feels like most of the world has moved on from this virus, but in communities like ours it is still very much a threat.

Closing Thoughts
This year will bring exciting things to our community including an infrastructure upgrade for our technology, continuing to renovate the building with new flooring, paint, lighting and artwork and more. We are also excited to begin using our funds from last year’s State Farm grant for dementia education and caregiver support. Beginning this month and continuing bi-monthly, we have a certified counselor leading conversations with our residents. Next month, on February 7 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM here at Light of Hearts Villa, our caregiver support groups will begin! We invite you and anyone you know to attend this free session. We know how difficult it can be to receive a dementia diagnosis in the family – these bi-monthly sessions will be a safe space for community members to come together, enjoy some snacks and learn how to cope as a caregiver. For more information and to register, visit this page on our website.
Additionally, save the date for this year’s Light the Way Gala which will be on September 29, 2023 at the Historic Tanglewood Club in Chagrin Falls. We are already so excited to celebrate together again at this beautiful new location. More info to come in the coming months!
As always, thank you for all the support, prayers and sweet words of encouragement you have been sending. We are a blessed community!
With so much gratitude,
