Celebrating 175 Years
For 175 years, our founders—the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA)—have lived a powerful calling: To bring healing, hope and compassionate care to all, especially those most in need.
What began in 1851 with the Sisters’ arrival in Cleveland, Ohio, has grown into a legacy that continues today through the Sisters of Charity Health System and its many ministries in Cleveland, Canton and South Carolina. We are honored to be a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System and to be able to carry forward this story of faith in action.
A LEGACY THAT SHAPED communities
For generations, the CSA Sisters helped build the foundation for:
• Hospitals and health centers
• Schools and educational programs
• Social service and housing ministries
• Faith-based outreach and spiritual care
Their work has touched millions of lives—and continues to guide our mission at Light of Hearts Villa today.
THE MISSION today
The Sisters of Charity Health System carries this legacy into the future through ministries that support:
- Healthcare, behavioral health and addiction recovery
- Housing stability and supportive services
- Educational success and family resilience
- Community development, equity and opportunity
- Older adults seeking dignity and spiritual connection
As one of these ministries of the Sisters of Charity Health System, we are part of a family that extends the healing ministry of Jesus with special attention to addressing the unmet needs of individuals, families and communities.
