Sister Regina Kusnir, SC, serves as the Director of Pastoral and Special Ministries at Light of Hearts Villa. With a Diocesan certification as a lay ecclesial minister since 1988, she has been an integral part of the staff since October 2005. Notably, Sister Regina, alongside Sr. Helen Therese Scasny, played a pivotal role in coordinating the transition of Lumen Cordium High School into Light of Hearts Villa.

Before dedicating herself to ministry at the Villa, Sister Regina’s career included roles as an elementary teacher for grades 2, 5, 7, and 8, as well as Director of Religious Education and Pastoral Minister. She also served 17 years on her Vincentian Congregation’s Leadership Team.

Sister Regina’s educational background is extensive, with a B.S.E. and M.S.E. with a major in religious education from St. John College. She pursued postgraduate studies at John Carroll University and St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN. Additionally, she holds certifications in Pastoral Administration and Administration in Religious Education from the Cleveland Diocese, as well as a certification from the Pastoral Psychology Institute at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She is also a Franklin-Covey Certified Trainer for various leadership programs.

A member of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Sister Regina cherishes her family, which includes one sister, two nephews, a niece, and a grandniece. In her leisure time, she enjoys writing poetry, gardening, counted cross-stitch, reading, contributing to her congregation’s publications, and taking leisurely walks.
For Sister Regina, Light of Hearts Villa holds special significance as a place where she experiences the warmth and compassion of its diverse community, including residents, staff, family members, volunteers, and benefactors. She finds immense joy in being part of the Villa Family, which she describes as life-giving for the residents, who she views as holy individuals.
