COMMUNITY Updates

May 28, 2026

Dear Friends and Family of Light of Hearts Villa,

As spring continues to bloom around the Villa, we are feeling especially grateful for the beautiful community that surrounds and supports this special place. The past several weeks have been filled with meaningful moments, joyful gatherings, and reminders of the mission that continues to guide us forward each day.

One of the most memorable highlights this spring was our Prayer Service celebrating the 175th Anniversary of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. It was a deeply moving afternoon honoring the legacy, faith, and compassion of the Sisters whose ministry and vision continue to shape Light of Hearts Villa today. Surrounded by Sisters, residents, staff, supporters, and friends, we reflected on generations of service and the incredible impact their mission has had throughout our community and beyond. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for such a special occasion.

We also had the joy of welcoming students from Bedford High School back to the Vincentian Pathways grounds for a morning of service and stewardship. These students spent time planting, weeding, and helping care for the gardens and natural spaces that are slowly being restored and reimagined. Watching young people invest their time and energy into preserving this sacred space was incredibly encouraging and hopeful.

Our annual Join Hands Day was another wonderful reminder of the power of community. Thanks to generous volunteers, supporters, and friends of the Villa, our grounds were filled with helping hands, laughter, flowers, and fresh energy. We are deeply thankful to everyone who donated supplies, shared their time, or helped beautify the property we all love so much.

And with warmer weather finally here… the patio is officially open! Residents and families have already begun enjoying peaceful afternoons outside, visits with loved ones, music, sunshine, and moments of quiet connection on the terrace and throughout the grounds.

There is much to look forward to in the months ahead as well. We are excited to host our Vincentian Pathways Grounds Walk & Information Session on Thursday, June 25, where guests can learn more about the vision for the property, upcoming restoration efforts, and opportunities to become involved. We’ll also gather this summer for our Villa Family Social in July — a joyful evening of food, fellowship, and fun for residents, families, staff, and friends. Stay tuned for additional details on both events soon!

To those who have already responded to our Spring Appeal, thank you. Your generosity truly helps sustain the heart of this mission. As the number of seniors who have outlived their personal resources continues to grow, your support allows us to continue caring for residents with dignity, compassion, and love…  regardless of financial circumstance. That commitment is part of what makes Light of Hearts Villa such a rare and special place.

If you have not yet made a spring gift, we warmly invite you to consider supporting the Sister Helen T. Scasny, SC Benevolent Fund. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure that residents who can no longer afford their care are still able to remain in the place they call home, surrounded by community, faith, and compassionate support. You can mail a donation to 283 Union St. Bedford, OH 44146 or give safely online here >

Thank you for believing in this mission, for praying with us, volunteering beside us, supporting our residents, and helping ensure that Light of Hearts Villa remains a place where people are deeply cared for and never forgotten.

With thanks and love,

Breanne Cavileer, LNHA, CDP
Executive Director
