As summer begins to wind down, we are filled with gratitude for the joy and connection this season has brought to our community. At Light of Hearts Villa, every day is an opportunity to celebrate the love, care, and laughter that make this place feel like home.

August was especially full of fun and meaningful activities – from our Annual Staff & Resident Patio Picnic, to special craft sessions, a cheerful visit from the Kona Ice Truck, our August Birthday Bash, and so much more (you’ll see highlights throughout this e-newsletter!). These shared experiences continue to bring smiles, strengthen friendships, and remind us of the joy of community.

Looking ahead, the autumn season holds even more excitement:

• National Assisted Living Week | September 7 – 14
This year’s theme, “Ageless Adventures,” is a beautiful reminder that joy, discovery, and new experiences are for every stage of life. We’ll have something special planned for each day of the week – from festive treats to creative activities – and we can’t wait to celebrate alongside our residents and families.

• Hearts & Homes: An Evening at the Villa | Tuesday, September 9 | 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Enjoy a summer evening of food, fellowship, and firsthand stories. Tour the Villa, meet our residents and team members, and experience the heart of our mission. Perfect for prospective residents and their families, volunteers, and donors. RSVPs are encouraged but not required – we’d love to welcome you!

• Donor Engagement Session | Tuesday, October 7 | 6:00 – 7:30 PM

• Trick-or-Treat at the Villa | Tuesday, October 28 | 4:00 – 5:30 PM
A new public tradition! Bring the kids in costume to trick-or-treat through the Villa. Our residents will love handing out candy and sharing in the joy of Halloween. Learn more here >

• Handbag Bingo Brunch | Saturday, November 8 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
We’re so excited to introduce a brand-new fundraising event! Join us for a fun-filled morning of bingo, delicious brunch, and the chance to win brand new designer handbags. Invitations will go out to homes in mid-September, but you can get your tickets digitally now >

And as always, we are preparing for this year’s #weGiveCatholic campaign. This annual fundraiser is vital to sustaining the Sister Helen T. Scasny, SC Benevolent Fund, which ensures our residents receive premier care even if they outlive their resources. With a generous $100,000 matching gift from the Kaminski family, we are eager to make this the most successful year yet – with your help!
