Vincentian Pathways Informational Session
Learn About Vincentian Pathways: A Project to Restore History and Build Community.
Date: Tuesday, March 18 | Time: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Location: Light of Hearts Villa | 283 Union St. Bedford, OH 44146
A ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, Light of Hearts Villa was established in 1989 to offer a continuum of care to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of residents, with a special focus on ensuring dignity and respect for all. Deeply rooted in the mission of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, the Villa has been a sanctuary for hundreds of seniors in need of assisted living and memory care services.
Over $205,000 of the total raised will benefit the Light of Hearts Villa Benevolent Fund, providing financial assistance to residents who have outlived their resources; and $10,000 will benefit the Vincentian Pathways restoration project, helping restore the historic grounds and gardens in honor of the Sisters who began the Villa’s mission of compassionate care.
A new initiative, the Vincentian Pathways project will enhance the Villa’s serene spaces integral to the tranquil environment, offering places for reflection, prayer, and connection to nature. The funds will help restore walking paths, gardens, and outdoor areas that honor the legacy of the Sisters, whose vision for compassionate care laid the foundation for the Villa. The project ensures that future generations will continue to experience the beauty and peace of these sacred spaces, keeping the spirit of the Sisters alive for years to come.
The Light the Way Gala was filled with heartfelt moments and highlights as two of the Villa’s most beloved figures were honored for their enduring impact. Sister Regina Kusnir, a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati, was presented with the honor of having the Villa’s exquisite chapel named after her, recognizing her spiritual leadership and unwavering dedication to the mission.
Sister Helen Scasny, SC, the founding Executive Director of Light of Hearts Villa, received the prestigious Radiant Heart Award for her tireless service and generosity that has shaped the organization’s legacy. Sister Helen’s award was presented virtually by a family friend connection, actress Catherine O’Hara, well known for many roles, including that of the mother on the Home Alone movies. O’Hara expressed her gratitude and admiration, saying she was deeply honored to take part in such a special celebration of Sister Helen’s work and the Villa’s mission.
“We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our community,” said Breanne Cavileer, Executive Director of Light of Hearts Villa. “This incredible generosity allows us to continue providing compassionate care to our residents and to honor the legacy of the Sisters who started this work. The funds raised for the Vincentian Pathways project will ensure that the sacred grounds from the former Motherhouse will be restored and remain a source of peace and inspiration for generations to come.”
The Light the Way Gala was a night of celebration, community, and generosity—one that reflects the ongoing commitment to the legacy of Light of Hearts Villa and its bright future ahead.
