Lumen Cordium Alumnae Mass of Remembrance
Though the halls may serve a new purpose today, the spirit of Lumen Cordium continues to live on through the friendships, faith, and memories shared by generations of alumnae.
Happy November! As we turn the calendar to a new month and look ahead to the holiday season, there’s so much to be grateful for here at the Villa. October was filled with wonderful moments, familiar faces, and opportunities to celebrate the special community we’ve built together.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’re reminded how blessed we are to have such an incredible network of residents, families, staff, volunteers, and friends who make Light of Hearts Villa feel like home. And while the year may be winding down, we still have some exciting things ahead of us!
A Spooktacular Success!
Our annual Trick-or-Treat celebration was an absolute BLAST! We welcomed an incredible turnout of families, little ghosts and goblins, and friends from throughout the community for an afternoon of Halloween fun. Our residents had such a wonderful time seeing all the creative costumes, passing out candy, and sharing in the excitement. Events like this are such a beautiful reminder of the joy that comes from bringing generations together.
A huge thank-you to our staff, volunteers, sponsors, families, and everyone who helped make this year’s event one of our best yet! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our Facebook page for some fantastic photos from the festivities.
A Friendly Cold & Flu Season Reminder
As temperatures drop and we begin spending more time indoors, we’re also entering the heart of cold and flu season. We kindly ask all visitors and family members to be especially mindful of the health and well-being of our residents.
If you’re feeling under the weather, experiencing cold or flu symptoms, or have recently been ill, please consider postponing your visit until you’re feeling better. Frequent handwashing and other simple precautions go a long way in helping protect the vulnerable older adults in our care. We absolutely love welcoming visitors to the Villa, and your thoughtfulness helps us keep our residents healthy and safe throughout the season. Thank you for helping us look out for one another!
Save the Date: Holiday Open House!
Before we know it, the Christmas season will be upon us, and we’d love to celebrate with you! Please join us for our Holiday Open House on Tuesday, December 15, from 1–3 p.m. here at Light of Hearts Villa.
We look forward to opening our doors to friends, families, neighbors, and supporters for a festive afternoon of holiday cheer and fellowship. Whether you visit us regularly or haven’t stopped by in a while, we’d love to see you!
November Is a Big Month for Giving!
We are officially in the home stretch of our biggest fundraising campaign of the year, and we need our community’s help to make it a success!
This year’s #WeGiveCatholic campaign has an ambitious $500,000 goal, thanks to an extraordinary $250,000 matching gift commitment from the Kaminski and Manella families! That means every dollar donated, up to $250,000, will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling the impact of your generosity!
And here’s the best part: You don’t have to wait until Giving Tuesday to participate! Every gift received between now and December 1 counts toward our campaign. You can even make a pledge by December 1 and fulfill your gift at a later date, and your commitment will still count toward unlocking the match!
There are several easy ways to participate:
Every gift and pledge, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal and helps us continue providing compassionate, faith-based care and a loving home for the older adults we are privileged to serve.
Our campaign concludes on Tuesday, December 1, and November is our opportunity to rally together and make every day count. Whether you’re a longtime supporter, a resident family member, a neighbor, or someone who simply believes in our mission, we invite you to be part of something truly special.
And if making a gift isn’t possible right now, you can still help by sharing our campaign with friends and family!
$250,000 in matching gifts. A $500,000 goal. One incredible community. Let’s make it happen!

As the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine celebrate 175 years of serving others, we’re honored to share stories from those whose lives have been touched by their mission. For Jennifer Grogan, assistant dietary director at Light of Hearts Villa, working alongside the Sisters has been a powerful reminder of what it means to lead with compassion, serve with humility, and care for others with unwavering grace.
